Meet your heroes and raise money for a well-deserved local charity, St. Helena's Hospice, in a day of live events, meet and greets, and even show cars!
Invasion Colchester is an event that has been on every year in the centre of Colchester Town, and it's a day filled with people in excellent cosplays, live music performances and activities for the entire family to take part in. This has been the third Invasion event that has taken place since my move here in 2017, and it has been the only one I have managed to attend so far. And I loved all of it! From meeting different people in various costumes and characters to enjoying the overall positive vibes from the attendees, it was a great day out and can highly recommend it to anyone. For more information about the event, check out the website here.
The charity that it raises money for is St. Helena's Hospice, a charity which helps support people local to the North Essex area that are dealing with a life-limiting condition. They offer relief in providing emotional, physical and spiritual needs to those who need it, yet they rely heavily on donations and fundraisers such as Invasion. There were far too many awesome cosplayers at the event, and I most certainly missed a good number of them. But the ones I did get photos of I was massively happy with, because of their energy and pride of their costume. Below are just a few of the entire event:
If you got through all of that and made it to the bottom, I applaud you! Figured I'd save some of the waffling for after the photos. Because the day was a long one, and my joints were aching from the day and from my long working week. And deciding to take three lenses with me, yet only used one for the entire day definitely added to the body aches. However, I'm glad I went and I am super happy with the results. I can only hope those in my photos agree! All shot on Sony A77ii with Sigma ART f/1.4 35mm lens. Edited in Lightroom Classic 2019.
